Field engineering · scoped engagements

When the dashboard
isn't enough.

Streamwake's self-serve tiers handle the steady state. For operator-grade pipelines, three field-engineering engagements — fixed-fee reviews and a retained SLA practice — bring a second pair of eyes to the moments the dashboard can't.

Engagements

Three pillars.
One scoping call.

Each pillar is delivered by Streamwake's field engineering team — the same people who designed the agent loop and the audit-trail telemetry behind it. Two are fixed-fee; the third runs as a monthly retainer.

Fixed-fee review
Incident reviews
After a major outage you want a third-party read on what actually happened — without the postmortem becoming a blame artifact. We join the war-room transcript, the CDN logs, and the agent timeline into a single root-cause story your exec team will trust.
Deliverables
  • War-room timeline reconstruction with second-level timestamps
  • Root-cause analysis tracing the failure across ingest, packagers, and edge
  • Postmortem review document, scrubbed of blame and ready to share externally
  • Optional joint readout with your exec team and Streamwake engineering
Fixed-fee review
QoE audits
A monthly reliability figure isn't the same as knowing your viewers actually had a good night. We instrument a representative sample of your streams, replay viewer-side rebuffer and startup metrics, and tell you where the QoE is leaking — by CDN, by device, by content type.
Deliverables
  • Audience-weighted rebuffer, startup, and video-start-failure dashboards
  • Per-CDN and per-device breakdowns pinpointing the worst-offending segment
  • Encoded-ladder recommendation tied to observed bandwidth distributions
  • Quarter-over-quarter trend read with regression-flagging alerts
Retained
SLA consulting
An SLA you can't measure is a number, not a contract. We help teams redesign their viewer-facing SLAs around metrics the stack actually reports, write the runbooks that prove the SLA in the moments that matter, and stand up the alerting that catches a breach before a customer does.
Deliverables
  • SLA language and metric-tree rewrite grounded in your real telemetry
  • Runbook library for the most common breach scenarios, mapped to on-call
  • Alerting topology that triggers on SLA drift (not just outages)
  • Monthly retainer covering review of new launches and breach readouts
How we work

Two engagement models.

Fixed-fee reviews scope one question, one deliverable, one price. The retained SLA practice is a monthly cadence — reviews of new launches, monthly breach readouts, and a standing channel when something genuinely breaks.

Fixed-fee review
Incident reviews · QoE audits

One deliverable, one price, one timeline.

A scoping call (30 minutes, free) defines the question. We deliver a written review on a fixed date — usually within ten business days for incident reviews, four weeks for QoE audits. No retainer required.

Retained
SLA consulting

A monthly practice, not a one-shot.

A monthly cadence — a standing channel for the moments that matter, monthly readouts, and pre-launch reviews of major changes. Cancel any month. Custom-priced per environment and team size.

Bring a question.
We'll scope it.

Tell us what's on your plate — a post-mortem you need read, a delivery that needs auditing, an SLA you're about to publish. We'll come back the same business day with a scope and a fixed-fee quote (or a retainer proposal).

Typical response within one business day.
